Living Room/Family Room/Den

Rooms where family and friends gather need comfortable ambient light levels for relaxing and entertaining and specific task lights for reading, studying, and games. Many modern-built houses and condos are not wired for a central ceiling flush mount; often recessed pots are considered an upgrade.

In these areas where lounge seating is lower than for dining, a low-lying ambient mix can be achieved from the spill from table lamps, floor lamps and torchieres. As well, wall sconces can be placed symetrically about the room or on either side of a painting or a chimney-breast. Recessed fisheye fixtures or spots light a mantle even more dramatically.
